The gym fish-eye distorts the lead
Arm out. Mirror. Fluorescents. Your nose is a landmark. She is not impressed. She is looking at a funhouse.
Try-hard is readable
The bathroom-gym vanity shot does not say you take care of yourself. It says you needed her to know you lift. She already assumed you have a body. She wanted a face that was not stretched by a wide lens six inches from your nose.
Fish-eye makes the near eye huge and the ears leave the frame. That is not your face. That is the phone’s face.
Why it dies as photo 1
- Distortion reads as a lie. She has seen this shot a thousand times. The chin is the lens. The shoulders are the lens.
- The gym is the background. Racks, mirrors, other men. Same puzzle as a group shot, plus sweat.
- Fluorescent light is a cave with a buzz. Green skin. Hard shadow under the brow. Eyes go flat.
- Bury the pump photo. Photo 4 if you must. Never the lead.
Shoot the face, not the set
Window light. A phone at arm’s length is still a selfie. It is not a wide-angle hostage photo in a mirror. If the only proof you exist is a gym mirror, take it out of slot 1 tonight.
